HCC BUILDING TASK FORCE FACILITY UPDATE...The
HCC Building Task Force met with the City of Gig Harbor to take the first steps in submitting the pre-application in April. This meeting started the process in our application for the construction of the new
facility at Gig Harbor North. The meeting covered a myriad of topics including building codes, zoning ordinances, civil engineering, landscaping, building design and traffic mitigation.
The meeting was very beneficial in opening the discussion between ourselves and the City and we believe has moved us forward toward the end goal of building the facility. One of the main issues which surfaced during our discussions was the
zoning and use parameters for the property. It is not currently zoned for any type of performing arts center or for religious worship. The city advised us that they are willing to support our plans for building a facility that would be used by HCC, that could accommodate the theatre and performing arts as well, but some type of change would need to be made to current zoning language.
Subsequent to this meeting, HCC has been notified that
the city would consider writing a text amendment to include the use of a church to the current zoning and permitted use application. It appears as though this amendment could be processed and approved within 6 months, with minimal additional expense on the part of HCC. We are continuing to pursue this change in zoning as our next milestone. Please continue to pray as we seek God's wisdom through this process.

LATE NITE @ YMCA
Late Nite is taking over! Over 160 high school students are filling the YMCA after-hours on Friday nights.
Late Nite has been a blast with the rock climbing, basketball, and other activities. Most recently, concerts have been added for a whole new dimension. What has really been great, according to Josh, Student Ministries Pastor, is just talking and getting to know the kids. "There have been some great friendships built because of Late Nite and I am so excited to see all this continue into the Summer. I hope to see you there too!"
