CHILDREN AT MAPOLO - ZAMBIA, AFRICA
An estimated 650,000 children have been orphaned or left with one parent as a result of AIDS/HIV in Zambia. Zambia is an African country where 20 percent of adults suffer from AIDS/HIV. Nowhere is the problem of AIDS and children more drastic than in southern Africa. The disease has claimed more than 15 million lives in sub-Saharan Africa since the AIDS pandemic began 20 years ago.

In spite of these statistics, you are making a difference
one life at time. Hope for Life is about giving the children of Ndola Zambia an opportunity of building a sustainable life by providing an education, a nutritious meal and health care for children who are presently orphaned because of the AIDS pandemic.

HCC has partnered with HOPE for LIFE to support the school at Mapolo. It is out hope that both financially and practically we will be intimately involved in helping feed and educate orphans on a daily basis.

This last year through the NITE of HOPE auction, we raised, $54,000 with the dream of building a new kitchen facility.

The picture above is of hope...but specifically the newly completed kitchen and dining commons. In addition to the commons building, electrical poles have been installed and the lines connected to bring electricity to the commons. We are excited about the progress being made at Mapolo and look forward to the building of the block-making business soon.

Thank you so much for your generous support. What a great thing that is happening for the children of Mapalo!

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY SMALL GROUP @ HCC

Summer is here and the time to build is when the weather is good. The Habitat for Humanity Small Group @ HCC will be joining the regional chapter of Habitat in building three homes this summer. Once the final building permits are issued, the volunteer schedules will begin to take shape for the coming weeks and months. Volunteers of all skill levels are needed at these sites, including providing lunch or snacks for the workers, making phone calls or becoming a family partner. If you are interested in partnering with Habitat for Humanity this summer, right in our own back yard, contact Judy Grienke, the HCC Habitat Small Group Leader. CLICK HERE FOR MORE DETAILS.

KIDSADVENTURE PRE-SCHOOL TEACHER TRAINING

If you are interested in volunteering with Kids at HCC, this is a time to come and learn what it is all about and how easy it can be to make a difference in the lives of kids. LATE NITE @ THE YMCA - HIGH SCHOOL

Late Nite is taking over! Over 160 high school students are filling the YMCA after-hours on Friday nights. Late Nite has been a blast with the rock climbing, basketball, and other activities. Most recently, concerts have been added for a whole new dimension. What has really been great, according to Josh, Student Ministries Pastor, is just talking and getting to know the kids. "There have been some great friendships built because of Late Nite and I am so excited to see all this continue into the summer. I hope to see you there too!" For more information, including details on Late Nite, contact Josh via
