HCC STRATEGIC INITIATIVES
Over the past several weeks, we spent time sharing several initiatives that we as leaders have been considering as we look toward this fall. Creating empty seats is our first priority. Last week we highlighted two initiatives. In our discussion, One Hour/Two Spots, we outlined the change in services for the Fall in having one service, Sunday's at 10:00 a.m. but in two spots here at Peninsula High School in the Library and the Auditorium. The second initiative that we highlighted was the upcoming changes for KidsAdventure. KidsZone will now be located in The Commons and all our children, Nursery and Preschool being located in the main building.

This week, we wanted to highlight two additional initiatives, including Growth Groups and the Thanksgiving Mission-Compassion Weekend.

Growth Groups: Our third initiative addresses our need for community. After taking the Reveal Survey last year, we were once again reminded that people grow best in small communities. Starting in October, HCC will be launching Growth Groups which will meet on Sunday nights all over Pierce County. Growth Groups will interact and process the content from Sunday morning talks. Growth groups will become the center for growing in relationship with each other and with God. It is our hope that while many of you attend Sunday mornings; you would take the next step to connect in community with a Growth Group. If per chance, you are interested in being a Growth Group Leader, please let us know by emailing us at office@HCCtoday.com.

Thanksgiving Mission - Compassion Weekend: Our final initiative addresses a felt need which also was noted in the Reveal Survey results. It confirmed what we already knew, that people want to roll up their sleeves and serve in tangible ways. To that end, for the weekend of November 29-30th we will sponsor Thanksgiving Mission - Compassion Weekend. Over the course of these two days, we will have over 20 local, community based projects where individuals and families can serve. Projects will include all of our Ministry Partners at HCC, including the Tacoma Rescue Mission, Reach Ministries, as well as many other organizations, and individual projects to help a neighbor in need. We mentioned a few weeks ago the launch of the email contact, Compassion@HCCtoday.com. Many of you have responded, wanting to be added to the list of volunteers, coordinators or leaders. If you would like to join this team, please let us know. We are excited for this weekend to serve and will bring more details of how you can help in the coming weeks.

Looking forward to another great year!

PRISON FELLOWSHIP MINISTRY - McNEIL ISLAND

Several weeks ago, we participated in gathering school supplies and providing financial support for Prison Fellowship Ministry. These supplies were distributed to over 33 children who's parents are in prison. Thomas Hudson, who volunteers at McNeil Island, worked to coordinate this effort. Thomas wanted to extend a "thank you" to HCC for our support of these families and we wanted to pass along the good news of your work here in our community.

MAKE THE PLEDGE - TAKE THE PLUNGE

One of the most important events in the life of a follower of Christ is Water Baptism. This is an opportunity for believers to make a public profession of their faith and identify themselves as followers of Christ. We encourage everyone at HCC to follow through with this important event in their lives. Our next water baptism will be at noon on Sunday, September 14th at Miracle Ranch. If you are interested in talking further about baptism or if you would like to be baptized on Sunday, September 14th CLICK HERE TO RSVP today and complete the short baptism form. We will contact you with all the details for that day.

ANNUAL HCC GOLF SCRAMBLE

Join us on Sunday, September 14th, the Annual HCC Golf Scramble at McCormick Woods. The format this year is a four person scramble, with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. Lunch will be served at noon. Dessert and awards follow golf! The Cost for golf and lunch is $300 per foursome, if you make and submit your own group; $80 to sign up with one to three individuals.
