HCC WEEKEND ROAD TRIP 2009We are stepping out for the second year on Thanksgiving weekend for the HCC Weekend Road Trip to serve families and non-profit agencies in the Pierce County area. This year we have over 31 projects identified and team leads have stepped up and volunteered to coordinate volunteer teams, organize donations and pull together the details to make their project a reality. As this date is approaching fast we wanted to make you aware of several key resources and dates that can make it easier for you and your family to get involved....
- The HCC Road Trip Web page has information on each of the projects we will be supporting this year. There is a brief description of the project, as well as a tab to email the team leader with any questions. In addition, several of the projects are looking for specific donations including coats, shoeboxes, sleeping bags, blankets, construction materials and more. If you would like to make a donation, you can do so for each of the projects listed. CLICK HERE to view the page.
- Donations will also be collect at church on Sunday mornings. On Sunday, November 22nd, we will be collecting new or gently used coats and blankets. These items will be distributed the following Sunday. Shoeboxes can also be donated on Sunday mornings for the upcoming Christmas box project for Rancho Milagro.
- Road Trip Fair, Sunday, November 15th and 22nd. On these two Sundays, after both services, you will have the opportunity to sign up for specific Road Trip projects. Team leads will be on hand to answer questions and to confirm your RSVP. On line RSVP's will begin the following day.
- HCC Road Trip Weekend t-shirts are available to purchase on line at the Road Trip web page. T-shirts can be purchased for $10 and all funds will go to support the HCC Weekend Road Trip projects. If you missed out on getting a shirt last year, order yours soon! CLICK HERE to order your t-shirt.
We are very excited to work and serve on the upcoming Road Trip Weekend. If you have any questions or are interested in serving as a team lead, contact Denise Funk at office@hcctoday.com or by phone at 253.853.4787.

CHASE THE PIG - HIGH SCHOOL @ HCC
Last Sunday was the kick off event for Chase the Pig. Over 65 high school students came for the "kick off" of our new High School Ministry. There was good food, great music, unbelievable pig trivia and a fabulous challenge from our guest Omar and the Leadership Foundation, encouraging students to consider mentoring middle school students in East Tacoma. We want to say a special "THANKS" to Deana Blair and the kitchen crew for providing dinner each week! This Sunday night at the Hope Center, 6:00, we will be Chasing the Pig and talking about the masks we wear and how we can learn to live authentic lives! For more information, Chase the Pig on Facebook

Join the Hikers Parking Club
Parking on our first Sunday at the Hope Center was a great success. Thanks to everyone who took advantage of parking at Henderson Bay High School, Gig Harbor High School and on the street.
Remember, you can drive in and drop your family off at the "Drop Off" section and then go park at Henderson Bay next door. As we mentioned last Sunday, if you make a one year commitment to park remotely and enjoy the walk to the Hope Center, we want to reward you! Confirm your commitment and
RSVP for the Hiker's Club and don't forget to drop by at Henderson Bay for your reusable coffee mug.
If you'd like to serve on our parking team and help provide a positive Sunday morning experience for our guest let us know by sending us an email:E-mail:

HCC BLOOD DRIVE SUNDAY at the HOPE CENTER
On Sunday, November 8th, we will be sponsoring the third Blood Drive @ HCC with Cascade Regional Blood Services. The Blood Mobile will be open from 9:00 to noon, just outside the main entrance at the Hope Center. Just remember...ONE pint of blood can save up to THREE lives.

FISH FOOD - HCC MINISTRY PARTNER
We received email this week that the
Fish Food Bank is critically low on basic food items at this time. Although we will be including Fish Food in the upcoming HCC Weekend Road Trip, they simply cannot wait until the end of next month to meet the needs of those in our community. Today, they are in critical need of the basics
pasta, tuna, baked beans, chili, canned fruit and vegetables, fruit juice, tomato sauce/spaghetti sauce, canned meats, mac/cheese dinners, peanut butter, jams, coffee, flour-5lb, sugar 5-lb,toothpaste, brushes, shampoo, deodorant, dish and laundry soap, and bath soap. We will be collecting food items THIS Sunday to deliver that day. Please remember to bring something with you to share with the Fish Food Bank.
