Exciting Times at HCC
We have gotten off to a great start for 2010 @ HCC. As you all know, the move to the Hope Center is now complete and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Our attendance has grown by 20% and we finished 2009 with a strong surge of year-end giving.  We will have more details regarding the financial picture in the quarterly update letter that will be mailed at the end of the month along with your 2009 financial receipts.

We continue to be a church that is reaching out to people far from God, letting them know of God’s love and grace, we are also facing some exciting growth challenges.

We are finding that the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service is at capacity.  To that end, we would like to take this opportunity to encourage you to come to the 9:00 a.m. Sunday service, where the coffee is fresher and there are more seats and parking spots available.  Also in the next couple of weeks, a new venue called the “Video Cafe” will be available in the loft area where you can enjoy the entire service on the flat screen.  There will also be space available in the “Fireside Cafe”, near the top entrance, where you can relax and enjoy the service by a nice warm fire and a cup of coffee.

As usual with these growth challenges comes the opportunity to serve in some way at HCC.  You can go HERE and fill out a form that we will direct to different department heads that will assist you in getting involved.

We are encouraged and excited to see and experience all that God has for us in 2010.  Invite a friend and join us as we together make a difference in our community.

RELIEF FOR HAITI

The catastrophe and suffering in Haiti is beyond our understanding.  We have an opportunity to do something this coming Sunday as we give a portion of our offering to support the Foursquare Disaster Relief already in motion to help survivors in Haiti.  The Foursquare denomination is working to contact the seven churches, as well as the orphanage that we support in Haiti.  Please take some time to consider how you can give and support survivors in this hurting nation.

CHASE THE PIG-MENTORS AT FIRST CREEK MIDDLE SCHOOL

HCC high school students have been participating with the Northwest Leadership Foundation, Mentoring123 program by coming along side middle school students at First Creek in Tacoma.  Each Wednesday, from 2:30-4:30, nearly 20 of our high school students step forward to make a difference in the life of one student.  As a result, nearly an entire 7th grade class at First Creek is being mentored...it has made a REAL and TANGIBLE difference in their attitude and academics.  This past week, we turned our HCC high schoolers away because we did not have enough adult drivers to take them to First Creek.  We need your help, adult drivers, every Wednesday from 2:30-4:30.  We have students ready to serve and kids in need...all we need is your help in getting them there.  Call Caryn at 853-4787 to help.

MomsConnect @ HCC

MomsConnect is the best of moms connecting with other moms.  Their goal is to empower and rejuvenate moms AND strengthen moms’ relationships with their families.  Together they share ideas, challenges, and triumphs.  Tonight's meeting will focus on Connecting With Your Partner, with Rick Enloe talking candidly and sharing his personal insights about the joys and challenges of being a husband and father.   MOMS Connect meets one or two Thursdays a month, during the school year. Our meetings are from 7:00–8:30 p.m. at the new Hope Center (Boys & Girls Club), located at 8502 Skansie Ave, in Gig Harbor.  Childcare is provided on a reservation basis.  To register for MomsConnect, CLICK HERE.

SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE SUNDAY

Sanctity of Human Life Sunday is a day to celebrate the intrinsic value of all human life. In support of this day, HCC will be collecting spare change for our local Gig Harbor area CareNet Center. CareNet Centers offer free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, peer counseling services, and other practical, emotional, and spiritual help to empower women and men facing pregnancy related concerns. Baby bottles will be available Sunday morning to take home this week, collect spare change, and return next Sunday, January 24th. Our support last year to CareNet in this small way was amazing! Join us this year as we support girls, women and families in need.
