WHAT'S HAPPENING IN KIDZONE @ HCC
KIDSZONE is the hot spot for kids ages Kindergarten through Fifth Grade @ HCC.  They meet each week upstairs in the Hope Center, playing games, watching and singing to video worship and hearing talks just for kids.  Every month our team in KidsZone, under the leadership of Courtney & Rusty Willson, creatively focuses on a different virtue.  This month our activities, songs, games and lessons focus on the virtue of honor with the memory verse of “Love each other deeply.  Honor others more than yourselves.”  Romans 12:10. Our weekly focus this month includes:

February 14th  Bible Story:1 Samuel 18:1-4
Bottom Line: Honor others more than yourself

February 21st  Bible Story: 2 Samuel 15:1-6a; 16:15; 17:22; 18:6-7; 15, 31-33
Bottom Line: Honor those who are over you.

February 28th: Bible Story: 2 Samuel 6:12b-22a
Bottom Line: Honor God out loud.

PRE-SCHOOLERS will be learning in the month of January the basic truth that Jesus wants to be my friend forever with the bottom line that Jesus can do anything.

February 14th  Weekly Focus: Nothing is too hard for Jesus
Bible Story: Mark 6:30-44

February 21st   Weekly Focus: Jesus can do what is impossible
Bible Story: Mark 6:45-51

February 28th:  Weekly Focus: Jesus has power over everything
Bible Story: Matthew 8:23-27

Thanks Courtney and Rusty for all that you do for KidsZone!

SERVING THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB, SATURDAY FEB. 20th

We have a great opportunity to spend some time serving the Boys and Girls Club next Saturday, February 20th.  Emanuel Schroeter is heading up a crew to pull weeds and clean up around the Hope Center.  This is a tangible way for us to give back to the Boys and Girls Club is a very visible way, as they prepare for upcoming community events at the facility.  If you have even just an hour to spare, let us know and we will add you to the crew helping Emanuel on Saturday the 20th.  To RSVP and join the crew, CLICK HERE.

YOUNG LIFE 'LIVE', SUNDAY MARCH 7TH

Young Life is actively involved in our area, with programs for students from Gig Harbor and Peninsula High Schools; and all four-area middle schools.  There is an upcoming event that we wanted you to be aware of.  In support of Young Life, join us for the 2010 Young Life Live Entertainment Event, Sunday, March 7th at 5:00 p.m. at the Hope Center.  This will be a night with great entertainment, dessert, an appearance by Dr. Science and much more.  For more information or to RSVP, contact Nicole at 253.851.8813 or younglife@centurytel.net.

SPARE CHANGE FOR CARENET

Several weeks ago, we distributed empty baby bottles as part of an effort to collect spare change for our local Gig Harbor area CareNet Center. CareNet Centers offer free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, peer counseling services, and other practical, emotional, and spiritual help to empower women and men facing pregnancy related concerns. Thanks to all who returned your bottles!  This has been a tremendous help to CareNet.  If you still have your baby bottle, take some time, fill it up and return it this coming Sunday morning.  Your spare change supports girls, women and families in need.

MOMSCONNECT @ HCC

Please join us for the next MOMS Connect meeting on Thursday, Feb. 11th, for a serious topic on every parent’s mind: Keeping Our Kids Safe. Lynn Mock from the Gig Harbor Police Department will talk about what parents of babies and toddlers can do today to ensure their kids are safe, and what parents of school-aged kids can do to lay the groundwork for their kids to make safe decisions now and in the future. Meetings are from 7:00–8:30 p.m. at the Hope Center. Child care is provided on a reservation basis.  To learn more about this group, visit their web site below.  CLICK HERE.

HOPE FOR LIFE, CHILD SPONSORSHIP

Four years ago as a church, we decided to get involved on the solution side of the AIDS pandemic taking place in Africa. Through a series of relationships, we connected with a group of 300 children in Ndola Zambia who are part of the Mapalo School for Orphans. These children have lost one or both parents to the AIDS pandemic and are in dire need of an education and a daily nutritious meal.  Through the generosity and effort of many people we have made incredible progress these past four years.  Part of this includes a child sponsorship program where individuals like you can sponsor a child and support the Mapalo School for Orphans.  For more information on sponsoring a child, CLICK HERE.
